How we help
Our Commitment to Education
Since 1869, the Royal Liverpool Seamen’s Orphan Institution has dedicated itself to the welfare of children who have lost their seafaring parents. Our mission is to ensure these children receive not only basic needs but also a comprehensive education to help them build a brighter future.
The RLSOI understands that the loss of a parent or guardian causes considerable financial stress and uncertainty, and we make it our aim to provide a ‘meaningful’ level of support during this difficult time. Mainly, this is delivered through our monthly grant payments. These are subject to ‘tested family needs’ combined with an adherence to our grant compliance rules. Support can aften be offered from pre-school through to higher education. Additional one-off assistance can also be provided to cover extra curriculum activities such as school field trips, sports or other social development programmes.
Our team is small, but with access to a national family liaison network and like-minded specialist organisations, we seek to ensure all the emotional and practical support is available for our beneficiaries.
A Legacy of Support
By focusing on educational support, we empower the next generation of young minds, providing scholarships and school supplies funded through generous donations. Our efforts extend beyond mere financial aid, aiming to nurture a supportive community around these children..
Help Our Cause.
